The snow terrain is a high poly count plane to which I added a "noise" modifier. The texture is a composite of two layers of the noise material. Tutorial listed below.
For the cane I used a 12 sided capsule extended primitive geometry. Selected half of the polygons along the "Z" axis and applied a red color to these. The select inverse of these are white.
step 3 of 8
A twist and bend modifier added to capsule for the Cane shape.
step 4 of 8
Cylinder with extruded polygons and a turbosmooth modifier applied fore the bulb's cap. A sphere for the body and a circle for the wire hanger. 3clones made and three separate colors applied.
step 5 of 8
Combined the cane and Christmas bulbs along with a chamfered box for the sign post.
step 6 of 8
The snowman consists of spheres (for body), cylinder with polygons moved and a turbosmooth mod (for hat). The scarf is a tube with altered poly's. Eyes are hemispheres.
step 7 of 8
Geosphere hemisphere and a tube geometries were used for Santa's house. The sign is capsule, sphere and box geometries.
step 8 of 8
The scene is lit using Mental ray daylight/sun and MR sky. Camera used for final scene capture.
