I started by drawing the outlines and basic shapes or different parts with very light strokes.
step 2 of 4
Then I started with the detailing of head part and carried on to the bottom from top. To decrease the smudging of strokes I thought it'd be a better idea to start from the top as it has always been a problem for me, given the habit of laying my hand on paper while I draw.
step 3 of 4
I continued drawing the details from top to bottom. This time around I wanted to also bring in shadows on body parts but then while drawing it I didn't feel confident enough to do it, the sudden change in contrast of shades that comes with shadows, that seemed to be too much to do for now. So again, I went with the classic camera light scheme for light direction. Maybe next time I'll feel confident enough to do that. :-|
step 4 of 4
Continued drawing the cloth and then the remaining part of feet. Once the shading was complete, I took a sharp darker pencil and then again gave the darkest areas and outlines a darker stroke. The ear part was a bit weird so also had to correct that bit by using the magic we call eraser.
