Created these worms from the central 'button', just a circle with layer styles, using the Mixer Brush. Tutorial for the worms is here: http://planetphotoshop.com/create-repeating-segments-with-the-mixer-brush-in-photoshop-cc.html
Used one of the worms and made this image starting with a perfectly good Granny Smith apple. Poster edges used with masking, shadows, painting. Used the same worm and added the Apple logo for the magazine's name.
Extracted the bull and bear from the image, made a new layer and masked out the background to keep the 2 elements in focus. On previous (copied) layer, used a radial zoom blur.
Have been enjoying Photoshop's 3D space and made the Apple stock chart a 3D slightly extruded element, changed the angle of the camera, included shadows. Also used a smaller (and flopped) image of the bull and bear as the IBL (image-based light) so there is some reflection of the bull's head on the chart.
See all them tiny li'l square open points along the blue line - that's the shape 2 layer? I used that there pen tool to redraw as closely as I could without going bonkers the stock's trading line on that day. Then on a layer above, I selected that blue line, added points to create a square enclosure on the bottom and added a gradient fill of green to blue. There, except for the light green and red volume lines that normally appear on a stock chart, the chart has been completely recreated for your dining pleasure.
