For my second version of this, I changed the underlying gradient and colors, added a second layer of the pattern and used the multiply mode at 15% opacity for it. Added an inner shadow here also with a dark brown.

I also made a second layer of the stitching coloring one black, shifted it slightly for a shadow, put it behind the brown one. For the clasp, this was originally a rounded 2 pixel-corner rectangle; for the top layer I used the tiger stripes. Added a shadow below the purse.
