I almost stepped on this guy while walking with my dog. I caught a giant piece of turquoise out of the corner of my eye. This was the only shot of him. (5 years and 3607 days ago)

This photo was not taken in a zoo or other animal park. It is a true "wild animal".

We were standing by a small stream watching salmon spawn for about 15 minutes before we noticed this little guy watching us from about 25 feet away. It was a little frightening at first. But just look at the pile of fish chunks in front of him and the glazed look in his eyes and the threat goes away. He was so full he could hardly move. Bears eat unbelievable amounts of salmon throughout the summer in preparation for their winter hibernation. A few minutes after we saw him he got up very slowly and disappeared into the undergrowth.
