Most photography discussions are about how the light in photos looks, but never about how the actual light source looks. In this contest, we're giving attention to the objects that provide us the light. In other words, capture an actual light source on photo...
e.g A cameraflash, a lightbulb, a candle,... there can only be one visible lightsource in the photo and it has to be turned on.
Govindrathod: Can sun be considered as a light source for this contest? ( 5 years and 3605 days ago )
Artifakts: "we're giving attention to the objects that provide us the light" ... is the sun an object ? ( 5 years and 3605 days ago )
Lodd: No suns please that would only end up in broken cameras. ( 5 years and 3605 days ago )
Contest Moderator: I think, for safety of the camera, we will consider the sun as a 'no go'...........besides, we will nd up with so many shots of the sun, it will end up as a 'let's photograph the sun' contest....so, no suns!! ( 5 years and 3605 days ago )
FallingHorse: It really sucks that the rules get changed after people sumit to a contest. It sshould all be outlined in the Goals from the get go ( 5 years and 3605 days ago )
UncleJimmy: I agree...the guidelines say nothing about the sun and it's also a light source...should have been stated from the very begining...before entries were submitted ( 5 years and 3605 days ago )
UncleJimmy: If entries are removed AFTER you change the rules, we should be allowed to re-submit...just my opion, but that would be closer to being fair about the situation ( 5 years and 3605 days ago )
jawshoewhah: Very eclectic bunch of entries so far, that's for sure. ( 5 years and 3603 days ago )
kitkat671: would a moon be considered a light source? it doesn't harm the camera. :P ( 5 years and 3602 days ago )
jawshoewhah: I don't see why it wouldn't, so long as it's the main focus, kitkat ( 5 years and 3602 days ago )
Lodd: Just so you know the moon is illuminated by the sun and not a real lightsource... ( 5 years and 3602 days ago )
kitkat671: true... so i guess not. ( 5 years and 3601 days ago )
wiseman: the moon is a light source, havent u ever reflected light with a poster board or reflecter to direct light where you wanted it, so YES the moon is a light source. ( 5 years and 3600 days ago )
Contest Moderator: agreed, the moon is a light source in this sense........ ( 5 years and 3600 days ago )
hannahspannah: this may sound like a stupid question but how do I enter a photograph? ( 5 years and 3597 days ago )
Ankonian: @ hannah its too late to submit a photo. This period is 'voting only' and entries can no longer be submitted. ( 5 years and 3596 days ago )

This is awesome!! I absolutely love the texture of the background. The way that the light beams are kind of speckled is great. I like how it's symmetrical, it's very aesthetically pleasing. Great job!
That's different but is the only light source in this image the match burning?

An entry that actually fits the contest theme imho all ways...In this contest, we're giving attention to the objects that provide us the light.I would really like to be owner of one of this babes....Is this yours author...?

Thank you, and yes, it's one of mine. I have a set of 3... normally two are outfitted with soft-boxes and the third is used to provide backdrop or hair lighting, or as in this case, set to provide very directional light for side lighting the subject.
A decent, beginners, portable system can be had for around $400 US on e-bay...from there you can get crazy and start building a system that costs upwards of 700-1000/ per strobe! (ouch!) But if you're not going to use and abuse the crap out of it...the starter system works great.
You're right, of course, it's something that would have been expected...perhaps i should have done a candle or a lightbulb...no one would have thought of that?!?
