For this contest, your goal is to show us some dark skies. No rain or snow allowed in the picture. You can try it from different angles or even get a panoramic view, it doesn't matter what is under the sky, as long as the focus remains on the heavy clouds. No ground can be visible in your photo. As a tip, HDR photography looks stunning on this theme.
Contest Moderator: C'mon people........read the guidelines........!!! ( 5 years and 3564 days ago )
Govindrathod: I guess people are just submitting the entries by reading just the name of the contest. Please read all the guidelines as well as the goal of the contest... ( 5 years and 3564 days ago )
DML: Ok, maybe bigger "NO GROUND CAN BE VISIBLE IN YOUR PHOTO". Please read guidelines and contest goal. ( 5 years and 3564 days ago )
wiseman: that part is understood lets stop the no ground repeat comments, where does it say there cant be ground as long as the focus is on the clouds ( 5 years and 3564 days ago )
festivetiff8: i think what is being confused is that you are counting anything other then sky ground (houses, trees, powerlines etc..) ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
festivetiff8: and besides you put "it doesnt matter what is under the sky as long as the main focus remain the heavy clouds"...your sending mixed messages make up your mind ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
UncleJimmy: according to the dictionary, "ground" is defined as 1. the surface of the earth, 2. the bottom of a body of water, 3. a special type of soil....ect... Hence, my fellow artists and photographers, structures (homes and biuldings) or the tops of trees, or partial statures or any other man-made object quallifies as showing the ground by definition...as long as it's NOT dirt, soil or mountains it's not ground. ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
wiseman: wow ur an genius ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
friiskiwi: I can see this is going to be an other competition where we will have lots of arguments. Suggesting a theme isn't easy, but I do wish they had somebody who would read through the suggestions, and think how they could be clarified, and less open to misunderstandings. And seeing all the confusion on this one. I think I for one will stop voting in this contest. ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
Mekun: Why is it people always try and skirt the contest? Just pictures of the SKY. WTF is so hard to understand are you 12? ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
UncleJimmy: look...I'm not trying to skirt anything...if they want only sky then the guidelines should clearly state ONLY SKY...if things were made more clear and defined correctly from the beginning in the guidelines this type of thing would not happen. ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
Giulia: Mekun, tx a lot for the "input". I don't know who you are, but I like you already ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
wiseman: its not skirting a contest is the limitations of how people put there creativity on the theme, many times having something besides just clouds enhances the clouds, as long as dark clouds are visible and noticeable then there isnt a problem ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
wiseman: look at the pictures in the contest now....most of the better ones have something other than just the clouds ( 5 years and 3563 days ago )
kyricom: Whether or not there are better pictures with things besides clouds is irrelevent. Using that logic you could enter a nice picture of a rose with any sky over it and say it was on theme. I may be wrong, but I suspect that there are times these theme descriptions don't match the title because of second language issues, but it can be frustrating. I agree 100% with Friiskiwi's suggestion about someone going over the themes for consistency. I might be able to do that if anyone were interested, I suppose. ( 5 years and 3562 days ago )
festivetiff8: maybe this contest should be redone with the person who suggested it making it more clear what they want...either making it just sky or "it doesn't matter what is under the sky, as long as the focus remains on the heavy clouds"....or even just stating in the guidelines what they mean by "ground" ( 5 years and 3561 days ago )
kyricom: The "person suggesting it" may not have phrased it this way. As someone who suggests themes, I can tell you that what ends up here for us is rarely what I have originally turned in, either grammatically or philosophically. I'm sure their intent is honorable, but the end result is different. I think our suggestions are just that - "suggestions" for the mods to write a theme. ( 5 years and 3561 days ago )
skyg4lz: Check it out!!!!!!!! ( 5 years and 3560 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Understand people the mods do not write the final descriptions of weekly contests. As far as this contest goes there is nothing in the description that eliminates buildings or trees the only suggestion is that the ground is not showing ( 5 years and 3560 days ago )
outbackjack: I don't understand how come there is so many shots with the ground clearly visible. It is frustrating when you try to follow the rules and so many don't. It does not make for an even field. Why is the mod not removing these shots???? ( 5 years and 3557 days ago )
friiskiwi: I think because we can't decide what's ground. ( 5 years and 3556 days ago )
