The Greeks who came to Egypt in the Ptolemaic Period soon began to mix with native Egyptians, and adopt their cultural believes and rituals, particularly those related to death. Thus the Greeks mummified the bodies of their dead, but they cared about outer appearance of their mummies at the expense of mummification process itself. They introduced funerary plaster masks, decorated with painting, that went all way down to the chest. (5 years and 3629 days ago)
