I think a contrast adjustment would help. It's only slightly blown out because the sun was in front of you. It's always a good idea to get the shot with the light behind you. It will give you better results.
Nice find.
I may just be an idiot, but what are we looking at?
Locksmagic - I think it is a rusty pipe... one I would hate to get a cut from!lol
Have you already taken tetanus vaccine?
Yes... nevertheless, I would still hate to get a cut from it, not only for tetanus, but because it says INFACTED!!

This is and old copper statue in the garden of a local church. (5 years and 3499 days ago)
Tarnish doesn't = corrosion. Nice shot, though
Kyricom, copper actually doesn't tarnish, if you want to use the correct terminology, it is oxidation that you see.
The definition of Corrosion is: a state of deterioration in metals caused by OXIDATION or chemical action.
Oxidation is defined as the interaction between oxygen molecules and all the different substances they may contact, from metal to living tissue.
In the case of iron, the oxygen creates a slow burning process, which results in the brittle brown substance we call rust. When oxidation occurs in copper, on the other hand, the result is a greenish coating called copper oxide.
By putting in my description that the statue was copper I was hoping most people would remember back to elementary school when we learned that the Statue of Liberty is made of copper and the reason she looks green is because of corrosion, and be able to skip a lengthy debate over the chemical processes. I hope that this clears up any confusion.
Of course when we say corrosion, the first thing that comes in mind is a piece of steel or iron full of rust... But a new copper statue doesn't look like that! Even aluminium has corrosion... For me it's very clear!
OK. Thanks for the info.
Beautiful shot, Good Luck
