There are over 12,000 known species of moss, are you saying that you can identify every species just by looking at a picture of it online? Perhaps you should tell us what it is before saying what it is not.

this doesn't look like moss or lichen and it does look like a pine tree--and I'm not an expert at either, but because there is question about it, I won't vote.

k5683 why is it that every macro shot of moss on here you claim is a pine tree? People on this site are way to quick to accuse others of cheating.

C'mon, guys...seriously?! pine tree to a moss cheating isn't on my vocabulary.I'll upload some shots of it in my album after the contest.

If the author as you said was trying to pass off something as moss that wasn't, what would you call it? Again I think if you have a question about it, rather than outright saying it's wrong perhaps you should ask first.
