The phone is kinda lost in the berry's,but still a good composition!!!

Actually I wanted it turned on but no matter what I tried the screen was washed out or the berries were too dark

Did you try multi-segment light metering or just spot?
That calculates the luminance of different parts of the scene to determine the optimal exposure.
