You shouldn't have cropped the top off.

I really didn't crop the top off, just composed the pic a bit off. Seems I did it with all I did that day and this was the best of all of them. I decided at the last minute to enter this even with the prob, didn't have time to reshoot it.

If you bumped up the contrast and brightness a tad, this would have been a nicer entry.

I'm not agree,jawsh about contrast. If author would add even little more contrast, he(she) would end up with blown highlights. May be it would better look in the b&w though
