2+2 = 4. We've all done mathematics in school. Some of us hate it while some of us love it.
For this contest, take a shot of what math represents to you. It might be a calculator, or a copybook containing math homework, as long as your subject is related to mathematics. Good luck!
jawshoewhah: So just to clarify, since I hate getting disqualified for stupid technicalities, I jsut have to show in a photo taht math is being done or at least thought about? ( 5 years and 3538 days ago )
kyricom: I agree some parameters might be nice. How explicit does the "math" have to be? The reason I ask is that math is used for virtually ANYTHING that is produced by man. If I take a picture of a box of tissue, someone determined the dimensions of the box and the number of tissues in it. If I take a picture of a building, someone determined size, load weight etc. Does the theme mean we need to show "numbers," or just a metaphorical use? ( 5 years and 3538 days ago )
Barracuda: I agree, more clarification needed I think. Kyricom makes a good point ( 5 years and 3538 days ago )
magicsteve: I concur (not only because I agree, but because I like saying "concur"( 5 years and 3536 days ago )
jawshoewhah: Agrees with kyricom. and although I think just about anything would qualify. ( 5 years and 3536 days ago )
jawshoewhah: I think simpler entries like just showing two or three of the same items displaying "1+1+1" or something simple is just a little too simple. I'm thinking more complex entries might make for more interesting entries. This one will be interesting. ( 5 years and 3536 days ago )
iquraishi: Hey People.. its Lamantines birthday today.. wish you a very Happy Birthday buddy.. ( 5 years and 3534 days ago )
Lamantine: Thanks Imtiyaz ! ( 5 years and 3534 days ago )

Can't really tell what's on the screen, or if it's math or not. Mainly looks like someone sitting there doing something on the computer.

Do you see the tax documents? The adding machine? Did you even look at it in high res? Kryricom, you discredit a lot of entries and it really gets old. How about a different comment like the face value like the quality and the general POV of the photo, rather than question whether the man is truly an accountant?
ummmm... actually, I did look at it in high res. I even magnified it. I don't see anything that indicates tax documents, just some papers. I also couldn't tell what was on the computer screen. I doin't doubt the guy is an accountant, but was merely saying there is no visual indication of it. But if you'd really like, it's a touch dark as well, except for those overexposed spots.
There are some paper, but you can't tell what they are as you can't actually read them. They could be anything. The computer screen is also unreadable. The hands are on the keyboard, not very mathematical.
I think there's a calculator or something hidden behind the letters. The paper roll looks similar to the old styled calculators. However you cannot see it clearly, so it's only a guess.
The picture needs more to show that the man is accountant. Something that tells supports it. Right now, you have to look hard to find anything to support this.

Alright I guess you two have a point. But at the same time, the computer just being on is doing math, every time he types there's data sent back through the CPU in code and the computer is always negotiating space and time and all the other configurations. I mean, like I said that's how the computer communicates is with mathematics.
It's true, the computer does do math. However, there are two issues with it. First, the focus isn't on the computer. Secondly, you can only see the screen, which consist of pixels, and doesn't do any math.
The screen only receives the command what pixel does what, which cannot be seen as math at all.
Congrats for your third place, Bob!
I just LOVE Pi (even though all people in school thought I was crazy, when I was happy to go to math and even happier, when we had to calculate circles )

I guess you where right kyricom.
Tooo much of foreground.
I think it's better now (the I/0s came closer to the bottom adding more depth to the photo).
Thank you my friend for the advice.

Great idea and a good shot. Might consider cropping some off the bottom so it's in focus, but looks like it's going out of focus off into the distance.

Can ya tell I'm REALLY trying to sell this one???

WOW! It WON?????!!

Congrats for your first place, Joshua!
Congrats, especially after all the controversy!
