Contest goal:

This contest is for those "bad" photos that you just can't delete. The ones that are "technically" NOT very good. The ones that you hide away but keep coming back to because they speak to you. They have that "something" about them that vividly expresses a mood, feeling, thought or action so well (or so you think) that they creep into your soul and grab you. This is your chance to show them off ... don't worry about the fact that they're blurry, noisy or skewed (beyond photoshop straightening) if they have something to say now is the time for them to SAY IT!

When judging these photo's the viewer should look for the emotional impact in the photo not the technical expertise! Sometimes it is the lack of technique that makes them work so well.

jawshoewhah: What a unique idea!!! I have photos that fit this theme perfectly! ( 5 years and 3297 days ago )
xogx2002: I believe I have an advantage over everyone here, I've very good at taking crappy photos ( 5 years and 3297 days ago )
xogx2002: Not very good at proof reading though. (I'm) ( 5 years and 3297 days ago )
jawshoewhah: Happens to the best of us xogx ( 5 years and 3297 days ago )
cabldawg71: that be around 300 to 1 for me ( 5 years and 3297 days ago )
arca: Ah ...not just crappy photo's jaws but crappy with impact ... the more emotional the better! That is the kicker! ( 5 years and 3296 days ago )
robvdn: weird contest... basicly the winner should be offtheme for not being a crappy shot... ( 5 years and 3296 days ago )
bandit69: Do we need to add a step by step as to how we messed up what could of been our most valued shots? ( 5 years and 3295 days ago )
jawshoewhah: Just a guess Bandit but I think a description is fine. SBS seems best used for HDR and panorama entries. ( 5 years and 3294 days ago )
jawshoewhah: Agrees arca! it's for those photos that even though there's errors, they still speak to you. ( 5 years and 3294 days ago )
arca: Sorry I have been absent I was called into work unexpectedly!

Jaws is right about the SBS but if you want to explain what caused you to "mess up" it would be interesting to know. We can all learn from our own (and others) mistakes! ( 5 years and 3293 days ago )
arca: Rob ... yeah ... I know it is weird. My way for voting here is to try not look at the technical side at all!

It is really about the emotion not the expertise, it is for those photos that you would never, ever enter because they are (normally) just not "good" enough. I think for this one, if the Mods agree, it is up to the voters to decide if an entry is just too "good" for this contest and vote accordingly! :-S ( 5 years and 3293 days ago )
Barracuda: Great Contest Idea but I think people have forgotten to read the description... "EMOTIONAL IMPACT" people and boredom doesn't count. ( 5 years and 3288 days ago )
Friend: Ya, I agree, the results shocked me a little. ( 5 years and 3286 days ago )

Howdie stranger!

Claudia's Doll - created by arca

I was reading Interview With a Vampire and was in New Orleans! I discovered this display in a store window one night. It looked so much like what I imagined the Doll that Lestat gave Claudia I could almost feel him breathing down my neck. The whole scene was very haunting (to me), so even with the low light, no tripod and my old film camera I had to try and preserve it.

Some noise reduction, sharpening and cropping. (5 years and 3297 days ago)

This little baby raccoon was in the water by our dock and it seemed to be having trouble getting out of the water. We noticed that he/she had a broken leg and was only having the use of the other three. We believe it was attacked by an alligator. He/she was able to get out and I was calling every number I could to get someone out here to help it. Fish and Wildlife said to call the city and the city got in contact with animal control. We couldn't touch it because we didn't know what kind of diseases he/she may have so we just fed it to keep it there. After he/she was done eating it stumbled down to the water again for a drink and then started off to an area of the bushes we couldn't follow him/her into because it's where the gators and snakes are. We waited there for an hour to see if it would come back out and for the the animal control but he/she never did. We left and went on about our day and about 2 hours later I was coming out of my friends house upstairs and saw that the raccoon was on the stairs climbing up to our door!!! Now mind you that we are three buildings from where he/she went in the brush by the water. Made it that far to find us! He/she was struggling so hard to get up there and I immediately called animal control again and the operator said they did come out earlier and looked for about 20 minutes but she will send someone again. They were very nice and had a quick response but told us that they will most likely put the little fella down. :( I explained that it was a very tame raccoon because everyone here feeds them and some you can even pet but he just needed someone to rehabilitate it and they just didn't have anyone to do that.
If he/she did get put down... atleast he/she's not in anymore pain.

I now know about people you can call other than the Animal Control that will help it.

This picture isn't in focus and I had a hard time getting the right shot cause he/she wouldn't stop moving but I still can't get rid of it. (5 years and 3296 days ago)
