For some reason I can just see this shot with that bottom part cropped up to the bottom of the bird too... but either way it's still an awesome shot. They never have their tails up when I'm around them.. guess they don't like me. LOL

MnMCarta....the only real trick to getting them with their tails up is to wait patiently for a female to be in the area near the male, normally (but not always) they only 'display' when the females are very near. Occasionally, if you're SUPER LUCKY...you can get 2 of them to display each other in a kinda territorial threat display...I have only 1 shot like that and it didn't turn out well because the lighting really super sucked (now there's a great professional photography term for you!)....hopefully this year!
