Actually, I see three frames. The bud part of the stem that is folded back for the flower to emerge, the rose bush branches and leaves and then the trees in the very back gound just out of focus. the trees form the 3 sides of the framing. Not the traditional frame as captured in many photos but yet it is still framed by nature.
I'll go with that! Your right in it's not the traditional framing but it's out of the box. GL author!

I was going to change this photo but I decided against it after re-reading the contest goal/theme. The goal does not appear to me to be a "frame" but taking a photograph with a surrounding that frames the object or item you are focusing on. I believe I captured that. Am I wrong? Never thought a contest as simple as this could be so confusing but I do take alot of pain meds! LOL
This is definitely on the fence but I think it'll pass. I see the same object (foliage) surrounding the flower on three sides. To me, that should count. I would pull the crop out a bit though so that the top of the bud isn't being cut off. Still, this is a great photo! All the best!
I would have cropped the blown out sky. Our eyes are naturally drawn to the brightest part of the image and with the crop it would have directed them 'through the tunnel'.
