Create a stereograph using your camera... A stereograph is a set of two images set side by side. When the user becomes crosseyed, he/she will see what appears to be the illusion of 3D.
This is done by taking one picture, and then another about 2 or 3 inches beside where the first picture was taken. Think of the first picture representing your left eye, and the second, your right eye. This way when you cross your eyes, you get the perception of actual 3D vision producing the illusion.
After you get the two pictures, use a picture editing program like photoshop to put the two pictures side by side. here is a link with images .
EmiK: I looked at the many pictures from the link and I'm having hard time crossing my eyes that far, lol. ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
friiskiwi: I'm having a hard time getting my eyes crossed, perhaps I should wait till late at night, (it's morning here).
Many of the samples look like 1 image duplicated, not 2 images. do ours have to clearly show that they are 2 different images? ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
MnMCarta: hehehe a good way to get crossed eyes when looking at something is to start with yer face right up on it and focus in the middle and then slowly move back while keeping an eye on the same spot. Works best when you dont blink too. ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
k5683: I crossed my eyes, moved closer, moved farther and I never saw what looked to be 3D ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
k5683: I still saw 2 images side by side oddly. I looked at many of the examples too. What am I doing wrong? ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
xogx2002: I cross my eyes until the two images over lap properly and then work on focusing.. This is much tougher than the static stereographs lol, but it's neat when you get it to work. ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
xogx2002: Well, hopefully people only vote if they can view it properly for the full effect lol. ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
Glockman: Best way for me was to tilt my head down and look up at screen I see three images with the middle one merged
this one worked well.

locksmagic: This is really cool..... when you actually figure out how to do it lol! xogx2002 is right, I dont thin it will be fair to vote until you see the image as it was intended.
@ friiskiwi, Not an official mod comment here but the image examples that I've looked at seem to be two separate images that are close but not quite the same (cropped differently?).
Another note, for me it seemed that the images that had less of a space between them seemed to be easier to see in 3D but that may just be me. ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
TankRed: To see the 3D effect, you have to produce 3 images with the middle one being having the same dimensions as the original 2 images. After that you just give it a bit a time for your eyes to adjust. ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
k5683: Glockman, thanks for that link. It worked. I had to kind of relax my eyes while they were crossing...hard to do but I gave it a minute and it worked. cool! ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
k5683: ha ha, I would suggest everyone view and vote right away because you don't want to have to go through tons of images like this at one time. I just looked at two in a row and am very dizzy! ( 5 years and 3105 days ago )
xogx2002: Also cupping your hands around your face so that the left eye only sees the right image and the right eye only sees the left images helps void out the distraction of the 3 images and makes it easier. ( 5 years and 3103 days ago )
adeincyprus: It is sad that a lot of people cannot, no matter how hard they try, see these images. I have a few of these that I have shot, and my wife cannot see any of them. ( 5 years and 3101 days ago )
kyricom: I think I'm with your wife, Ade ( 5 years and 3100 days ago )
adeincyprus: that's sad.......... I do think some try too hard to see them...... ( 5 years and 3100 days ago )
friiskiwi: Good luck to those of you who have entered, I can not see them so consequently have neither entered or voted. ( 5 years and 3095 days ago )

nicely done author my favorite... not only is the quality of the image great but unfortunately (for most of the other entries) this doesnt appear to be flat like most of the rest. which is great! honestly i dont see much competition here, and if you dont get first, or second, i will be stumped. lol... great work! even the foreground pops out, or in, which ever lol!

nice image -- but to me the effect is in reverse -- are you sure the image are not swapped --- I have used stereo pairs of air photos for surveying and mapping projects for years and swapped images have hills as valleys and visa versa -- that is what I am seeing with this pair
I agree Alan, something is just not quite right here.
author says:
You guys sure it's not your eyes? You know how they go once you're on the downside of the hill! I just followed the directions that were given in the theme. I took the initial shot, and then moved it about three inches to the right and re-took the shot. The left shot is on the left, and the right one is on the right.
no disrespect to you author, but I cannot see how this made 2nd place..... I have looked at this so many times, and the stereo effect just is not right. There is almost a transparency when the two images are combined, that is not right. It is not sour grapes, I like the colors and stuff, but the stereo effect just does not work. I can only assume that the voters did it on an 'I like this pic' basis, as the 3rd position entry suffers a similar problem, only worse, and the entry in 6th..........well.........what can I say.
Once I reversed the image at home it was very clear, this has wonderful depth and is a great photo. Have to remember though when doing these, the left eye sees the right image and the same vice versa. To simply say this doesn't deserve to be second explores no positive enforcement what so ever, in this community we are just that,,a community that helps one another and the previous comment IMO was a terrible show of sportsmanship. The photo was was well arranged and had great lighting and composure, more than I can say for my Windmill photo which later I regretted posting lol. Great job and congrats!
