This so brings back memories. I was living in Denmark at the end of the war, only a few years old. I was on a train with my mother. At one station there was German soldiers wearing helmets. I pointed to one of them and said ' Dad has one of those', Nobody spoke to my mother for the rest of the trip. My dad's was not a German one, but a Danish one. Both my parents had been in the resistance.

Out of the mouths of babes... Given your parents' participation in the resistence, I'm sure your mom was mortified by her little girl's comment. But your parents could certainly take pride in having the fortitude to actually stand up to such evil
