Telephoto lenses, being classified as anything above the normal 50mm range on a 35mm format, have many applications, as are their focal length ranges.
If you have such a lens, show us your best shots taken with it. To give you a better idea of what telephotos are, here is an analysis of 20 tele photos.

k5683: so do we have to use a 35 mm camera? ( 5 years and 3039 days ago )
Contest Moderator: No, you do not have to use a 35mm camera. That is an example used to define what makes a tele-lens. Please include your focal length in your entry descriptions... ( 5 years and 3039 days ago )
FallingHorse: k5683 - a 50mm lens on a 35mm format sensor is basically equivalent to humans field of view so anything over this is considered to be telephoto. You just have to adjust the focal length according to your sensor size ie. on an APS-C sensor you multiply by 1.5 for Nikon & 1.6 for Canon so in theory 35mm lens on an APS-C size sensor is equivalent to the 50mm lens on full size sensor (35mm format) .... clear as mud hey ( 5 years and 3037 days ago )

Was he shot through fence/bars - it looks a little soft across the top of his mane and across his nose but I like how you have managed to rid the fence or whatever it is - good job on this most handsome pussy cat

Yes...this was actually shot through chain-link fence. It's taken from a small private zoo, so the enclosure isn't anything like a big public zoo. I'm not too sure how great about 2m tall chain link is about keeping full grown lions at bay...but as far as I know...no small children have gone missing lately
Wow - a private zoo! Maybe no-one misses the naughty children lol !
author says:
Yep, a private zoo...ran by an acquaintance of mine. Occasionally, when some of the larger animals are feeling more docile, I am permitted to enter the enclosures (at my own risk of course) and get some very stunning shots without any bars or fence in the way...however, this particular Lion is known for being a tad unpredictable... so,.
