As photographers, we can often control the lighting of our subjects by putting them in light, shade, or some combination. Mother Nature plays with lighting too, providing endless combinations of lighting.
Take photo of something in dappled (patchy) shade. The entire subject doesn't need to be lit, but the focal point should be in the light. A good example would be a flower in the forest that finds that one patch of sunlight.
