The war memorial in Douglas, Isle of Man dedicated to the those who died during World War I and World War II.
The inscription reads:
"Douglas commemorates the loyalty, courage, and self sacrifice of those who fell in the Great Wars 1914 - 1918, 1939 - 1945

Dedicated to the fighters who fell during WWII, defending their island.
The inscription is the second line from the famous one engraved on the tomb of Leonidas and his 300 valiant soldiers killed during the Battle of Thermopylae, and reads as follows, "Stranger, announce to the Spartans that here
