JoeCacia: I love Butterflies!! This is an amazing subject! I am going to have fun commenting this contest! ( 5 years and 2998 days ago )
drskn08: yeah... insects have highest number of species including butterfly.. lets see how many are seen here... ( 5 years and 2995 days ago )
kyricom: Bummer... getting a bit late in the year for butterflies around here. But, look forward to some nice shots from you guys ( 5 years and 2994 days ago )
friiskiwi: late in the year, early here, we are still getting frosts. people keep forgetting how international this site is. ( 5 years and 2992 days ago )
locksmagic: It's too late here for butterflies as well but if you really want butterfly houses can be found all over the place, not to mention the fact that I don't think there is one photographer on Earth who doesn't have multiple pictures of butterflies on their hard drives. Nobody said the shots had to be taken specifically for this contest. ( 5 years and 2992 days ago )
friiskiwi: You are quite right, well almost, no butterfly houses in the small town I live in. I am just amused by people frequently believing that if they have summer, everybody has summer, etc. ( 5 years and 2991 days ago )
drskn08: friskiwi... its a contest.. and some times there are some themes where some other people also can't participate.. themes here suggested are something universally available subjects. no problem if you have no butterfly, summer or rain in your place but you may have something in your album what you can post.. what locksmagic is saying i think and he is absolutely right. even i live in a village and some times the themes are like city-life,window shopping(you may find it strange that here in place there is only 1 shop lol) or something i hardly get even in my neighboring places and then what i do..enjoy watching others photographs. and that is even good for me. so just enjoy if you don't have butterflies in your place ( 5 years and 2991 days ago )
FallingHorse: I musn't be a photographer Adam I have not got a single butterfly shot ( 5 years and 2988 days ago )

Is this a hummingbird moth? A friend was just telling me about them today and I was goning to look them up tonight...maybe I won't have to now. Lovely shot!
Very nice, you could try a tad to the left and could shave off the right accordingly. Members here have helped me learn much about a crop. but it is your entry Author so best of luck to you.
To have a lot of empty space to the right is Negative Space and is a VERY popular technique in photos. We are all about having our own opinions so whatever you feel works the best for you is awesome!
Wow, love the sharpness of the butterfly, and against very blurry background to even increase the contrast of the main subject making it a great artwork Well done
That is the strangest butterfly I have ever seen - It looks more like a hummingbird than an insect...Nature is SO weird!
yeah... is it butterfly.. more like humming bird..but good shot..1
