Are the trees painted at the bottom, or wrapped in something? Is it for aesthetics? It definitely gives them an interesting "personality" in your photo, when combined with the effects of the wind!

They are painted, and you know, I have asked the question "Why?" of a bunch of people since I moved here 2 years ago, and I have gotten a bunch of answers. They do that to most of the trees here. I think the most realistic answer is that it has a chemical in it that keeps the bugs off, but my favorite is that it makes the trees visible so all the drunks don't hit them! LOL I have no clue. LOL
