No matter what city you are in, you can find at least one area that seems to have been forgotten. We often avoid these areas of burned buildings and boarded up houses because we think they are ugly... but let's take a different look at it.... Take a picture that clearly shows the decay of an urban area but try and do it in an artistic and beautiful way.

cabldawg71: go take some new ones :P lol can i take rural urban decay? ( 5 years and 2885 days ago )
jfish: LoL...Adam, even before I opened this one I knew you would be happy. ( 5 years and 2885 days ago )
m0nm0n: i like this contest idea, but i can't find any place near me :S
i wanted to try it in HDR ( 5 years and 2885 days ago )
friiskiwi: Does it have to be outside shots? ( 5 years and 2884 days ago )
cabldawg71: I don't believe so friikiwi and I was wondering about rual decay also but it does say urban ( 5 years and 2882 days ago )
friiskiwi: Looking at the entries so far I agree, It obviously doesn't need to be outside. ( 5 years and 2882 days ago )
kyricom: There are two barns kind of close together near us... does that count as "urban?" ( 5 years and 2882 days ago )
friiskiwi: "An urban area is characterized by higher population density and vast human features in comparison to areas surrounding it. Urban areas may be cities, towns or conurbations, but the term is not commonly extended to rural settlements such as villages and hamlets."
The contest says 'Urban' so I would say rural settings are off theme. ( 5 years and 2882 days ago )
kyricom: Hey... there's an extremely high population density - OF COWS!!! ( 5 years and 2881 days ago )
marina08: I love the abandoned places, the forgotten houses, the decaying ones. I find them beautiful. When they renovate them, then the magic is gone. ( 5 years and 2881 days ago )
Drivenslush: and so are the Rats and the Roaches and the Smell... etc..(Just kidding, I know what you mean) ( 5 years and 2881 days ago )

Kind of ruins the anonymity, don't you think?
author says:
Well Mossy I suppose it might ruin anonymity if i were one who suggested it but since I'm not I think I'm safe. Besides look at the shot its from a different angle so NOT the same pic. Just the same subject. Not to be rude but next time please check your facts before you make comments like this.
I asked a question, and considering the extreme "similarity," what better way to "check my facts," than asking???
As for "next time" author, you can rest assured that I will just as quickly ask if I have a question, or if an image is as similar to one already published, as that can give someone an unfair advantage, which we wouldn't want, now would we???
This is also an EXCELLENT argument for why Contest Source Photos should be properly credited, since contest entry source photos have to be properly credited...Contest photos posted by Pxleyes are NEVER clearly attributed to the photographer, which is exactly how such questions regarding anonymity can arise...
author says:
You did more than simply ask a question, giving an exact reference to what you incorrectly assumed was my image took it from a question to an accusation. A good way to "check your facts" would be to actually look at the very link you posted where it CLEARLY states who the Author of the photo is.
I am well aware of every single rule of this site, I checked my portfolio closely before entering this image to make sure I wouldn't be breaking any rules and to make sure that a situation like this one wouldn't occur.
If you had a question a simple red flag would have sufficed you didn't need to make a snide comment based on your ill informed perception. I'm sorry if I'm being snippy but I doubt you would like it very much if you put a lot of work into an image only to have someone cry foul and say you were trying to manipulate the system.
Unfortunately this does happen almost on a weekly basis. Rule 3.7
Red flag and move on is the correct way,
Authors should not have to defend their entries in the comment section of any entry.
"Contest photos posted by Pxleyes are NEVER clearly attributed........." Well that just blew your credibility MossyB since that contest is attributed correctly.
Very nice shot author.
Congrats on an absolutely well deserved Win ... I am glad that the above shananigans did not hinder this most deserving piece. Great Job and Catch Author
