From back in the days when people actually cooked their dinners instead of opening a box (our family still does). (5 years and 2879 days ago)
Wow. I bet that was A LOT of work. Pretty cool.
This is a section of Wooly Mammoth tusk. Mammoths lived from about 150,000 years ago to around 1,700 B.C. It is thought to be the first species where man contributed to extinction through over hunting (along with climate change). Tusks could grow to 15 or 16 feet (4.5 meters) long and weigh hundreds of pounds. This section is about 4 inches (10 cm) across and 15 inches (38 cm) long. The tusks were also similar to trees in that you can count the "rings" to determine how old they were when they died (the outside layer is even called the "bark"). This was a very young mammoth, only about 11 years old. They were known to live to about 50-60 years old. It is against the law in most areas to own ivory, but prehistoric ivory is perfectly legal. I got this specimen for my fossil collection about 20 years ago, it's approximately 50,000 years old. (5 years and 2881 days ago)
Nice compostion and lighting -- (not sure about the sepia tones -- but that is just me)
lol i asume you dont use those kitchen tools anymore though :p Mine are a little more modern but yeah i do cook too. when i feel like it. Too bad that homecooking is often more expensive then opening a box.
No, we don't use these. The cost (for us) is often way cheaper than getting processed foods, if you really make stuff from scratch. But, even if it were way more expensive I'd still do it. When we cook, we don't add preservatives and artifical dyes etc. Fresh food is way better for you with tons more vitamins etc., plus you can support local farmers. Tastes way better too. Comes down to (again, for us) - would you rather have an original Rembrandt, or a print?
great photo
Great photo and thanks for the sermon.
I like the sepia tones - suits the subject matter. Only minor quibble is I think it needs a minor crop from the top
Howdie stranger!
