We are talking about the real and natural made knots in wood. They can make some pretty neat patterns or just the knot themselves can be pretty neat. So, let's see you find some artistic looking knots.
UncleJimmy: I'm seeing lots of cross-cut trees showing up now, not really actual wood knots, it shows the heart wood and growth rings....not the same thing IMHO ( 5 years and 2899 days ago )
friiskiwi: I agree;
A knot is a particular type of imperfection in a piece of wood; it will affect the technical properties of the wood, usually for the worse, but may be exploited for visual effect. In a longitudinally sawn plank, a knot will appear as a roughly circular "solid" (usually darker) piece of wood around which the grain of the rest of the wood "flows" (parts and rejoins). Within a knot, the direction of the wood (grain direction) is up to 90 degrees different from the grain direction of the regular wood. ( 5 years and 2899 days ago )
kyricom: I Agree... knots are not cross sections ( 5 years and 2899 days ago )
