Actually DW, they are pocket watch innards... shot using a 100mm macro lens with 54mm of extension tubes making an effective 4:1 macro ratio or 4 times life size on the sensor. The original gears are actually VERY small.

Thanks for your comments. Taken with a Tokina macro 100 mm at F 11 at exposure 1.2. I took dozens of shot set ups to eliminate reflection.
