It is along the Mohawk Trail which runs through MA and into New York. It is named after the Mohawk tribe who did battle with the Pocumtucks . There are many historic sites along the trail along with beautiful scenery.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I was just curious because the Mohawks were one of the five tribes in the Iroquois Confederacy, found in central New York. The Mohawks were mainly found a little west of present day Albany.
