jerostone: Just one thing; per se petroforms are made, or designed if you wish, by boulders. what if we use smaller rocks or stones to this end? Would they be considered off topic? ( 5 years and 2936 days ago )
Eladine: Id love to answer that but IM not a moderator so my answer isnt really final.
However my opinion is that you have to work with what you got.
The question is how small would be too small.. I dont know I think thats up to the voters to take with them in consideration when voting.
I hope that helps ( 5 years and 2936 days ago )
lillucky91: Would a sclupture made of stones work for this, if they were stacked or does it have to be over a larger area? Just want to make sure before I submited anything! ( 5 years and 2935 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Petroforms, also known as boulder outlines or boulder mosaics, are human-made shapes and patterns made by lining up large rocks on the open ground, often on quite level areas.
Normally small stacks would be off theme.... but for the many who may not have any true petroforms nearby we will allow complex stacked stone structures. ( 5 years and 2933 days ago )
Howdie stranger! If you want to participate in this contest, just:
There are 13 primary stones, the tallest of which marks the entrance to a burial cairn. One theory suggests that the stones form a calendar system based on the position of the moon. Local tradition says that giants who lived on the island refused to be converted to Christianity and were turned into stone as a punishment.
The Bible story about David and Goliath comes to mind. Thanks for sharing this picture and story. I love this kind of stuff, I'm with eladine I believe in giants too. BTW great cartographic description... geography is cool.
