Lighting can make, or break, a photograph. Low key, high key, forming shadows, creating mood - the possibilities are almost endless. Your job in this theme is to take a shot of any everyday object and make it dramatic by creative use of lighting.
The emphasis needs to be on the object, not the light, so any light can be used except - natural light! No shots lit by the sun or moon. It must be an artificial, man-made light source. Also, no people or animals in the shot.
The light source can be shown, but must not be the main object.
Status: finished. Check out the winners below!

lillucky91: Is it allowed to be something outside such as a tree? or should it be an object such as a household item. ( 5 years and 2817 days ago )
Contest Moderator: The light source can be shown, but must not be the main object.
Out side objects allowed as long as they are artificially lit. ( 5 years and 2817 days ago )
Pat: I'm seeing a lot of natural light being used in these photos. You people need to read the description BEFORE entering! ( 5 years and 2814 days ago )
kyricom: Should there not be people, or are people an "object?" ( 5 years and 2814 days ago )
EarthChildphotography: it states no people or animals in the photo as well as no natural sun light such as sun or moon light ( 5 years and 2813 days ago )
Derivatix: Was my comment deleted? I asked how a lit building can be on theme when the goal is "make it dramatic by creative use of lighting." none of the photographers here that uploaded buildings by night have "used creative lighting." no heartfeelings, its just a question. ( 5 years and 2813 days ago )
Derivatix: I deleted my comment on an image of a building. Sorry, I was a member here for a long time and I saw hundreds of comments below an image stating its off theme. "make it dramatic by creative use of light" and the light has not do be done by the photographer? I'm stunned. If anyone takes a street light to light an object, its lighting done by the photographer imho, because he places the object in such a way it looks dramatic. To picture a building that lighting was architectured by a lighting specialist is no big deal.
Sorry for being so picky, but i find the contest idea really great. I think it's very challenging for the ones to tske the effort and create something of their own. ( 5 years and 2813 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Hopefully the voting will reflect the difference between artistically lighting something and just snapping a lit building. ( 5 years and 2813 days ago )
