Unfortunately it does, especially in big cities like Barcelona. This crabs proliferate like rats due to the spanish weak juducial system. The law should be toughened to provide the authorities with an efficient tool to crack down on them. It's a notorious problem, widely known internationally. So, tourists are recommended to take precautions in this regard when they visit the city. However, nothing should deter you from giving it a try. You might as well take a few boxing lessons before you come and then put it into practice if necessary. I garantee you it's way less dangerous than the safest american city.
