Favorite Book - Photography Contest [12 entries]

Birds of prey Picture

Winning entry, with a score of:

Contest goal:

Marcel Proust said once: "There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those we spent with a favorite book." And how right he is with that! Your task is to take a photo of your favorite book. It can be one from your childhood, which you still love or one that you can read over and over again now as an adult.

There is a little catch though: you have to set up a scene, that includes the book and something that is related to it. If your favorite book is Shakespeares' Hamlet for instance, you could place the book in the middle, a skull next to it and write on a parchment his famous "To be or not to be".

Please make sure to include in your description, what the objects you added to the book mean, so people who don't know your favorite book can understand what you wanted to illustrate. Have fun and good luck!

This is a translated version of Wilbur Smith's BIRDS OF PREY, a book about naval battles, buccaneers, slavers, and privateers during the Anglo-Dutch wars back in 1667, so I guess that both the lantern and the glass fit in nicely. A book that I fully enjoyed, and strongly recomend to those of you who fancy historical novels (5 years and 2774 days ago)

This book is inscribed with my name, date of May, 4 1960 and
my classroom, 6C. Forced to read the classics as a child, I have since purchased many of them in leather back and have finally read them all. Treasure Island is still my favorite. (5 years and 2774 days ago)

I decided to go with a favourite childhood book. Snugglepot and Cuddlepie by May Gibbs. It was first published in 1940 and the much loved edition I have is from 1956. All the characters are Australian flora and fauna, the characters I have represented are the Banksia Men who were always up to no good....... (5 years and 2776 days ago)
