Too may bad choices in the past, the future doesn't matter. (5 years and 2763 days ago)
excellent shot!
Torn between resigning herself to announce an absolute truth that will be devastating to loved ones causing hatred, scorn and denial, she alone bares a huge burden of what the future may bring if lies and deceit are brought to light to protect another loved one.
Bearing this pain alone is killing her spirit, knowing full well what she must do.Loved ones are hurt no matter the outcome as she wrestles with this no win situation to protect her family. (5 years and 2766 days ago)
I would interpret the quote as one of lost opportunities for fear of the unknowable future and a possible replay of a painful past, and thus an unwillingness to expose oneself to what could be a more meaningful relationship. The face of this old woman seems to portray a "what-might-have-been" had she taken the plunge years ago but didn't and thus now living in eternal regret at the autumn of her life. The wide empty space in front of her could have been filled with all the possibilities which didn't and can now never happen. (5 years and 2769 days ago)
