karaflazz: I don't know if i'll make it to the next round but this theme has nothing to do with photography. This is all about making an electronic circuit!!! ( 5 years and 2713 days ago )
captgeo: I agree with Karaflazz... Not happy with this choice for a tournament. ( 5 years and 2713 days ago )
BeSea: Likewise ( 5 years and 2713 days ago )
audreyj: Agreed ( 5 years and 2713 days ago )
alexx.files: Do I need to build a ring light or I can use a reflection of one source light to get a ring light? ( 5 years and 2713 days ago )
UncleJimmy: According to the goal "One more catch and this is important: you'll have to post a photo of the device you made as a ring light in the SBS. " so the answer would be yes...you have to build some type of ring-light... ( 5 years and 2713 days ago )
alexx.files: it's not clear for me that "made as" means build. ( 5 years and 2712 days ago )
alexx.files: "In this contest you're going to have to be creative, do some DIY and build your own ring light simulation" ( 5 years and 2712 days ago )
alexx.files: I'll reformulate my question. Do I need to use a ring light as a source or I can you any device that's result in a ring light effect? ( 5 years and 2712 days ago )
karaflazz: What i mean is that IF we had to take photo of something USING the ring would be fine, but to make a ring JUST to capture it's reflection...
It doesn't make sense!!!
I might be wrong but we all are here to learn photography not study for electricians.
Sorry if i sound bad. ( 5 years and 2712 days ago )
Contest Moderator: This round has been updated with another contest, the previous 'ring lights 2' has been replaced with 'National Emblems 2'. This new contest fits better in this tournament type of contest.
Sorry for the confusion. ( 5 years and 2712 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Be aware that off theme entries will be removed. Also your entry should show an official emblem of a country and not a symbol representing a country, there's a difference!
Before entering please check if your entry is an emblem or a symbol. Like stated in the description emblems are officially chosen. Please also post a link to for instance a wiki page where it is states that your entry is a official emblem. ( 5 years and 2709 days ago )
BeSea: We can only use the national emblems of the country that we live in? ( 5 years and 2709 days ago )
BeSea: Please explain the conflict between the title which states "national" emblems, then goes on to include "state" emblems. Symbols are not allowed, but then goes on to include patriotic "symbols". We are told that the emblems must be "official", but then includes inanimate objects, which are not "official". Clarification, please!! ( 5 years and 2709 days ago )
Contest Moderator: @Besea: The title of a contest is just a title, this also goes for the thumbnail, it is the description that counts. Both national as regional (including states) emblems are allowed. You can choose to upload an object which represents these emblems like coins and statues.
As long as the item you show (animate or inanimate) is on the given Wiki page you are OK, if it is not on that page: show us an official page (government for instance, in English) which states the object you show actually is official.
Be aware that emblems are officially chosen and symbols are not. ( 5 years and 2708 days ago )
dem90: Also, just so you know, by saying you can not enter symbols is counter intuitive, since emblems are symbols. The difference between them is that emblems we created for that purpose specifically and are meant to represent only that idea, symbols can change over time ( 5 years and 2708 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Contest is closed, new entries will be removed. ( 5 years and 2705 days ago )

The kiwi is a national symbol of New Zealand, and the association is so strong that the term Kiwi is used all over the world as the colloquial demonym for New Zealanders.

Kiwi are flightless birds endemic to New Zealand, in the genus Apteryx and family Apterygidae. At around the size of a domestic chicken, kiwi are by far the smallest living ratites and lay the largest egg in relation to their body size of any species of bird in the world. There are five recognised species, two of which are currently vulnerable, one of which is endangered, and one of which is critically endangered. All species have been adversely affected by historic deforestation but currently large areas of their forest habitat are well protected in reserves and national parks. At present, the greatest threat to their survival is predation by invasive mammalian predators.

As they are not only rare but also nocturnal, most of us haven't seen a live one, and certainly not in the wild. (5 years and 2708 days ago)
