Pat: These are good, it's going to be a hard one to vote on! ( 5 years and 2735 days ago )
jerostone: Why the cultural imperialism, if the term is accurate? Why not a proverb used in some other language, if duly translated into the English one? This way things could be much more interesting, or so I'd like to think ( 5 years and 2735 days ago )
kyricom: I tend to agree with jerostone. I think it would be great to see sayings from around the world. We could learn a lot about each others' cultures. ( 5 years and 2734 days ago )
robvdn: @Jerostone and Kyricom: as contest suggester: think about the problems mods will have with checking up on a dutch proverb or one is Swahili? Many languages have local version like dutch in the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, Dutch Antilles and Suriname, all of them do have their own proverbs. In the end it will be impossible to check. That's why I suggested English only ( 5 years and 2734 days ago )
jerostone: @robvdn, the cultural imperialism part I meant it more as a joke. What I'm talking about is proverbs used by other, non-English speaking peoples, but then only if translated into English, otherwise you're absolutely right ( 5 years and 2733 days ago )
