Get out in the yard or nearby woods and show us your best shot of a creepy, crawly or flying bug or insect. One catch to this theme is that no dragonflies are allowed as we have had contests for this particular insect several times in the past, besides it's hard to beat a cool shot of a dragonfly with a spider shot no matter how cool! Also, no captured bug or insect! Must be shot in its natural habitat! Have fun and don't get bitten or stung!!
If your shot is a really close-up macro, please add a photo to the SBS, that show it was taken outside.
Elle1248: is a butterfly a bug? ( 5 years and 2657 days ago )
SaHdeeQ: no, i don't think so ( 5 years and 2657 days ago )
friiskiwi: "A butterfly is a mainly day-flying insect "
To me butterflies would be on topic, but I can't be sure, and we have had butterfly contests.
"....show us your best shot of a creepy, crawly or flying bug or insect. One catch to this theme is that no dragonflies are allowed"
I would hold off on uploading butterflies until whoever mods this contests say they are O.K. ( 5 years and 2657 days ago )
kyricom: Why wouldn't a butterfly be a "flying bug?" If butterflies aren't bugs (insects), what are they? ( 5 years and 2656 days ago )
rbsgrl: A butterfly is most definitely a bug/insect. The only exclusion is the dragonfly. ( 5 years and 2656 days ago )
MnMCarta: Does that mean we can't enter dragonfly's? BAHAHAHAHA ( 5 years and 2656 days ago )
FallingHorse: What about spiders? They are creepy crawlies ( 5 years and 2655 days ago )
Contest Moderator: I will allow butterflies and spiders. ( 5 years and 2654 days ago )

Thanks for your Fav Vibeke. It means a lot coming from you. I feel to the ground when i saw these guys and someday a passerby is going to call the parametics thinking I've had a heart attack or something. Tks again
That is the strangest bug I have ever seen. I too thought he had a little green photoshopped coat, with VERY decorative spiked accents. Fantastic find, and a great photo, with excellent color and clarity!

What a fastinating critter.... from what I found on the net you would not want to take him home as a pet He's a saddleback caterpillar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saddleback_caterpillar

Thank you Madam for the interesting info and no it wouldn't be a good idea to keep as a pet. I don't like venomous spikes! LOL
This was cute cause it was like the (what I think to be a ladybug) was holding the arm out for the ant as to say... You may pass. LOL (5 years and 2656 days ago)
