lincemiope: Dear Mod, PLEASE read CAREFULLY the contest goal: Take a photograph that illustrates a book title. Use the book title as the title for your photograph. It has to be a real book, so add Authors name too ( 5 years and 2472 days ago )
lincemiope: the mod removed my entry for the following reasons:

Your entry does not follow the theme of the contest closely enough.
Your photo would not work to illustrate that book. The contest is about producing a photo that could be used for a book cover, not just illustrate the title ( 5 years and 2472 days ago )
BeSea: That is my question. Are we interpreting the name of the title in a photo or interpreting the meaning and/or theme of what's inside the book? ( 5 years and 2472 days ago )
Contest Moderator: The contest is to produce a photo that could be used to illustrate a book. We are talking about real books, not an individual interpretation of the title. ( 5 years and 2472 days ago )
patty: Thanks Lincemiope for asking clarifications, and the Mod for the answer. I too had realized that the picture was only to illustrate the title of a book without the need to refer also to the plot, nor that it'd be used as the book cover. ( 5 years and 2472 days ago )
BeSea: One more question. Should the photo be in portrait, rather than landscape view, as would be a book cover? ( 5 years and 2471 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Either format is OK as it was specified in the goal. ( 5 years and 2471 days ago )
Contest Moderator: After reading all the correspondence many times, I agree.
The goal should have read,
Take a photo that illustrates the book and could be used as the book cover.

It is very hard to find suggestions every week and try to figure out how they can be miss interpreted.

May I suggest you submit suggestions, and comment on the ones that have been made, including making them clearer. ( 5 years and 2471 days ago )

"The intricacies of family and the complexities of the games they play mingle wonderfully here in a memoir quite unlike any other."George Plimpton, author ofTruman Capote Katy Lederer grew up on the bucolic campus of an exclusive East Coast boarding school where her father taught English, her mother retreated into crosswords and scotch, and her much older siblings played "grown-up" games like gin rummy and chess. But Katy faced much more than the typical trials of childhood. Within the confines of the Lederer household an unlikely transformation was brewing, one that would turn this darkly intellectual and game-happy group into a family of professional gamblers. Poker Face is Katy Lederer's perceptive account of her family's lively history. From the long kitchen table where her mother played what seemed an endless game of solitaire, to the seedy New York bars where her brother first learned to play poker, to the glamorous Bellagio casino in Las Vegas, where her sister and brother wager hundreds of thousands of dollars a night at the tables, Lederer takes us on a tragicomic journey through a world where intelligence and deceit are used equally as currency. Not since Mary McCarthy'sMemories of a Catholic Girlhoodhas a writer cast such a witty and astringently analytic eye on the demands of growing up. An unflinching exploration of trust and betrayal, competition, suspicion, and unconventional familial love,Poker Faceis a testament to the human spirit's inventiveness when faced with unusually difficult odds." - Google Books (5 years and 2474 days ago)

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer--they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along. - goodreads.com (5 years and 2474 days ago)

'Bloody hell, what’s an alpaca?’ is the frank and charming story of a brave couple who risk everything to move to Spain to breed alpacas. Their intention is to make a living, but first they must negotiate their way through the Spanish property market, local characters, rogue builders and the worst weather Andalucía has seen for 100 years. Alan and Lorna experience the joy, but also the heartbreak of alpaca breeding, picking up an assortment of stray animals on the way. ‘Bloody hell, what’s an alpaca?' may be full of glorious highs and monumental lows, but it is essentially a story of endeavour and spirit, living each day as though it may be the last. A sinister crime syndicate has traced the long-lost treasure -- worth almost a billion dollars -- from the Andes to the banks of a hidden underground river flowing beneath a Mexican desert. Nothing will stop their ruthless and murderous drive to recover the gold. Nothing, that is, until Pitt and his team place themselves square in the path of danger...
