Usually photos with a red-eyed subject, (due to the camera's flash), were re-touched or removed. But often times the so-called defect produces unexpectedly artistic, interesting images precisely because of the red-eye. Take interesting camera-flash, (not photo-shopped), photos of red-eyed people and or animals. The extra element of humorous surprise is a bonus.
friiskiwi: FallingHorse, I tend to agree, and it's going to be hard to vote high a a bad photo. ( 5 years and 2418 days ago )
kyricom: I think part of the problem with this theme is that shots with red eye are typically snapshots, which we don't typically embrace in our contests. ( 5 years and 2418 days ago )

Well here I can imagine what the horse with the red eyes is saying for the other one, which is with the head lowered: " who is the commandant here" GL author...
Love the idea, and the lighting. I would have cropped it a bit more (too much to the top). Just my opinion.

Thanks. Yea, thought about the top crop, but I settled on the idea that a longish top would emphasize / enhance the sudden spot of 'red-eye' more, giving some contextual element.

It should probably have been mentioned that 'red eyes' in animals are not red.
Really funny! Made me laugh. I like the expression of Boris.
The Story made this picture even funnier made red-eyes really to be desirable for this one
Balance and colors are excellent. Humor in an image is always a plus!
