Contest goal:

If you are inviting some friends over for dinner, what would the dishes be? Food photography is a special art and doing it well isn't that easy. A mouth-watering shot of a main course is what we want to see. It's needs to be some kind of studio set up, so no shots of dishes in restaurants ect. No people or pets, just the glorious food.

friiskiwi: " so no shots of dishes in restaurants ect. "
that's a shame as you can get some wonderful photos of food in restaurants. ( 5 years and 2387 days ago )
meatman: Studio setup !! Yeah right. I don't even have a SLR, let alone lighting, backdrops, etc, etc, or whatever else a "studio" is composed of. My best lighting is a bicycle light. My best shot would maybe be a pizza on a plate, with a flashlight shined on it. ( 5 years and 2387 days ago )
kyricom: I don't think "studio set up" has to mean a full studio with professional lights etc. Your "studio" could be your dining room table. I think it just means something you've made, and not something a restaurant or store has made. Hopefully, the mod will clarify. ( 5 years and 2386 days ago )
Wayne Cheah: Not all of us are gourmet cooks. You are inviting some friends over for dinner, so it's home cooked fare; simple, rustic even, but most likely not restaurant standard, but capture your amateurish effort on camera and show us your home-cooking skills, or lack thereof ( 5 years and 2386 days ago )
Contest Moderator: For the purposes of this theme, "some kind of studio set up" just means no snapshots of folks at the dinner table. It needs to be a composed shot, where the main subject is a dish that is a main course (not in a restaurant). ( 5 years and 2386 days ago )
k5683: you don't have to have a SLR, special lighting, or backdrops for a studio setup. Do you have a lamp? Do you have a table? Do you have a sheet? Do you have any type of camera? If you said yes to these, you can make your own studio. I'd look up on the internet "cheap studio" or "do it yourself studio" or something similar. You'd be surprised. ( 5 years and 2385 days ago )
k5683: I see dishes here that may have been taken at a restaurant. How can one tell the difference? ( 5 years and 2385 days ago )

We had some friends coming over so we decided to try and make home-made Gyros. Marinated the lamb all day and made Tzatziki sauce from scratch. Never having been to Greece (unfortunately) we weren't sure how authentic they were, but they did taste great. Potential apologies to all our Greek friends. :-) (5 years and 2380 days ago)
