Thanks guys for the nice comments - actually if you adhere to the rules of thirds the balcony is the main subject not the deer - the deer just happened to be there at the time the photograph was taken.
For me it's a great shot, but not of a balcony. The dear is the real focal point of the image, due to it's position in the frame, lines pointing at it and the color contrast btween deer and background.

I like the balcony with all the flowerpots.I also like the sign below the balcony, the exposure and focus are very nice. The only nitpick I have about it is the cement colored ledge to the right side of the balcony it is a little distracting. I know there's probably not much you could have done about it, and the photograph is still very nice.

Yes it is very real - I took this shot in Banf Canada last year.
