Thanks Roon. Well, this shot was actually done on-the-fly as it took off from the edge of the window. Cropping away the dark part would blur the fly too much. In any case I thought the big band of black would create a bold contrast to the white part, thus maximizing the minimalist intention?

I like the photograph, but think you should show the entire glass stem.

Thanks. I thought that showing the whole glass would have meant showing the large circular base and a bit of the resting platform which was a window ledge, thus distracting attention away from the sensuous and minimalistic tulip lines of the glasses. When you photograph a tulip bulb you normally don't include the stem sticking into the ground? BTW, the generally uniform size of the water droplets formed a non-intrusive backdrop?
