Selective coloring is the art of creating a black and white image and returning a specific portion of it to color. Often, it focuses on a single object within the composition to emphasize it and/or enhance drama.
PS Elements, PS and gimp (free) as well as other editing programs will allow you to achieve this look.

pingenvy: Is it allowable to desaturate a color photo, or does picture need to be taken in grayscale and the color added? ( 5 years and 1533 days ago )
Contest Moderator: @pingenvy: the idea is to start with a color photo and desaturate that part of your shot which is not your main subject ( 5 years and 1530 days ago )
Mario: this is not photography in my oppinion ...it's look like photoshop...but we have different taste ( 5 years and 1525 days ago )
Contest Moderator: @Mario, occasionally we have photography contests that require a bit more photo-manipulation to give photographers a change to use/showcase skills other than just straight photography. Colorization of photographs has actually been around since nearly the beginnings of photography, in the good old days it was done by hand on black and white prints, then later, digitally.
