Super shot. Wonderful face and great texture in the clothes. He is a contented man at peace with himself - probably a village headman to whom wise decisions come easily. The light emphasises the face but the rest of the shot is still detailed. Great!!

I like this portrait but I don't like this black background cut out

This is just my opinion: leave a natural picture will always be better than a cut always very difficult to perform.

Lovely portrait. Great skin 'tone' and fabulous eyes and great use of light. I am one for symmetry so would have preferred to see more cropped from the right of the photo to put the face central in the image.

Yes its a nice portrait,i like it as it is,all to often we see a facial photo where the character is central,so this makes for a change,although it is negative space as such.

Yes to this. Love the softness but sharp on eyes. Love the off centered placement, the gentle look on the face, the warm warm warm colours. REally a very lovely portrait....I hope you gave her a copy of this.

Great composition - textured sections above and below the eyes. The image gets the viewer thinking because of the title 'Samurai' but the face is half hidden by a decorative fan. Is that a contradiction - I wonder what is going on!?

I struggled with that composition so thank you for saying that. I kept cropping and yelling at the samurai "do you like it this way?"....bye the way, I used skin softener on this face.

Staged and well done. You have found a great character to shoot and wow what a story this tells. She hears the beat of a different drummer and there is no foolin around. I like this for the story, the look of the model, the colour palette, the light from the window...heck I like everything about this shot.

Classic portrait - well executed. I think it would be improved by cropping from the right and from the bottom.
