Good image. Beautiful, thoughtful face and nice 'soft' background. Might it be better with some of the right hand area cropped out so that the image was square?
I wish I could tell you on how to improve this image...I CAN"T...beautiful in sepia, showing great skin tones, diffused background and I think the crop is perfect with her looking into all that negative space. This is a well thought out image with technical elements nicely handled.
I really am drawn to the chiaroscuro effect of this post. I think even a tighter crop would work to really pull us into those gorgeous eyes and curls. Have you considered lightening the eyes a bit to open the "gates to his soul" and thereby mesmerizing the viewer?

Thanks for commenting. I did lighten the iris but sought a subdued lighting to match the models expression.
Fabulous deep eyes - they really draw you in and burn out at you. I also like the subdued palette; it adds to the mystery of the image. There has been a distance travelled by this person - you can feel it.

Cute. What a lovely smile - me and my friend! Good that the two faces are close together. Love the textured wall as a background.

Thank you kindly. This was before the earthquake that took 9,000 lives. After the quake Vets without Borders came to help animals who were injured in that quake....I kept thinking about this little boy and his pet goat and hoping they were both alive and uninjured.
Unusual portrait and just makes you wonder why the mask

Well, if you look at his environment, and look at his eyes (especially his left eye is really red) you will see that the little threads of burlap float freely in the air. He is exposed to this all day handling those bags. To cover his mouth, to prevent inhalation of these particles is a wise thing to do. Thank you for stopping by.
What a great shot. Superb eye contact - excellent composition with the figure surrounded by the sacks to give context and texture. Some great colour but the palette is well controlled and not too vivid which retains the environment in which the subject works.

Think this has been thought through, and although there is negative space, the fact she is looking that way, adds a good effect.
