This is a snack food that comes wrapped and steamed in a leaf (not banana, sorry don't know the name of the leaf). It is a small package that mothers will give their children to take to school for a snack and consists of "cow pea", the red stuff is "chili sambol" which is chili pepper ground with coconut meat and then you have plain soft coconut meat. In true Sri Lankan style it is eaten only with the right hand....quite a treat. (5 years and 580 days ago)
These are deep fried water bugs. You break off the wings and chow down on a crunchy exoskeleton and gooey mushroom tasting mess inside which squirts out into your mouth covering the mucosal membrane with a cloying fungal taste that stays with you for the rest of the day and night. Then in the morning, you wake up with water bug breath and that will cause your dog to disappear for a week and your partner for 6 months. JK !
