amazing rainbow, a lot of noise in the image, but that makes it look like an old painting. I like it.
how come the sky rendered so differently to the right of the rainbow than the left?
I'm not sure but this is exactly how the sky looked when I took the shot. I can only assume it was because there was rain and really dark clouds to the south/east at the time. It had been raining all day when the sun came out briefly late afternoon and this amazing rainbow appeared. The rainbow was unusually bright which may also have affected the sky colour.
This is a stunning picture but I see the rainbow as the focus and not the leaves on the tree which is the goal of the contest.

pretty, but there's a bit of noise and the rainbow is oversaturated
My camera is a Canon Power Shot, there's always noise. As for the saturation all I did was tweek the contrast a little, otherwise the shot is how it looked. This rainbow even made the local newspaper.
I agree with the comments as far as the trees being the focal point but this has got be one of the most vivid photographed rainbows I have ever seen. I hve the same camera.
