This is the exact spot of the famous WWII photograph of the US Marines raising the American flag on the summit of Mt. Seribachi after a bloody 4 day conquest of the high-ground. I was blessed and fortunate enough to have re-enlisted on this hallowed ground while serving in the Marines. It was a moment that still brings a tear to my eye when I reflect on it...
