Nice composition....but, perhaps a reflector (white paper or tin-foil) on the side opposite the flash to remove some of the harsh shadow areas may be helpful in future entries...keep working on it, good luck
You mean like have white paper on the right side of this shot?
Yes...just like that, but outside the frame so you don't see it...it will reflect some of the light back at the subject that will fill in the harsh shadows and soften them a bit...give it a try
