The lie here is that it portrays the act of it being ok to just destroy things to make an interesting and shorter path whereas the truth is we could have taken other avenues and enjoyed this 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 year old tree just as much, even if it took us a few extra steps to get there.
