Your ring doesn't look home made IMO.....
It is home made. It is a tent light, i cutted out the middle of it. Similar result as the linked one in the goal, but i keeped the cover of it: http://www.dansdata.com/ringlight.htm
But i load up another pic for the doubters.

Well hell, I guess that counts. If you update your SBS with what you did with photos from that link to the original light, it would be less confusing.
It is easy jawshoewhah! Just buy a led light like linked before. Take it apart and cut a hole (size it to your objective) on both sides of the cover with any kind of tool, that you can cut plastic with. (I used a blade and a rasp) After you done that, just put the on/off button outside the lamp. You don't have to do anything with it, it's cable is long enough. And you are done! It's a half an hour job! I have no photos of the process, i made this light ring a year ago...
